The short version, sister to sister: your information belongs to you. We collect only what we need to teach, mentor, and support you. We never sell it. We guard it carefully. And you can ask us, at any time, what we hold about you — or ask us to delete it.
Who we are
WODDI Institute is the learning platform of the Women of Divine Destiny Initiative (WODDI), a women-focused organization serving learners and volunteers across Africa and beyond. When we say "we" in this policy, that's who we mean. When we say "you," we mean the wonderful woman reading this.
What we collect — and why
We only ask for information that helps us serve you properly:
- Your name and contact details (email or phone) — so we can create your account, reach you about your learning circle, and address you properly.
- Your location (country, state/region, local area) — so we can connect you to your local WODDI community, leaders, and events near you.
- Your age bracket and network choice (WGMN or WNNN) — so you join the right programme for your season of life.
- Your learning activity — courses taken, quiz results, certificates earned, journal entries, and progress — so your growth is saved and follows you across devices.
- Volunteer application details — if you apply to serve, we collect what the application form asks (background, experience, references, and any documents you upload) so we can review your application fairly.
- Messages and community posts — what you write in the community or to mentors, so the conversation works.
We do not collect anything secretly. If we ask, you'll see the question.
What we do with it
- Run your account and save your learning progress and certificates.
- Send you the things you signed up for — admission notifications, announcements, mentorship messages, and (if you allow it) app notifications.
- Understand, in aggregate, how the Institute is growing — how many sisters joined, from where, and how learning is going — so we can improve.
- Review volunteer and leadership applications.
What we will never do
- We will never sell your personal information. Not to advertisers, not to anyone.
- We will never share your details outside WODDI's legitimate activities.
- We will never shame or expose anything you share privately with a mentor or in your journal.
Who helps us behind the scenes
Like most modern platforms, we use trusted services to run WODDI Institute: secure cloud hosting and databases (such as Netlify and Supabase) to store your account safely, Google sign-in if you choose it, and an email service (such as Mailchimp) to send you the messages you've asked for. These providers process data on our behalf under their own strict security standards — they don't get to use your information for themselves.
How we protect it
Your data is stored in secured, access-controlled databases, protected by industry-standard encryption in transit. Access rules ensure members can only see their own records, and only authorized WODDI administrators can view what's needed to serve you (for example, reviewing a volunteer application you submitted).
Your rights — you're in charge
Wherever you are, and in line with data protection laws such as Nigeria's NDPR, South Africa's POPIA, and the GDPR, you can:
- Ask what information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong or outdated.
- Delete your account and personal data.
- Withdraw consent — for example, turning off notifications or unsubscribing from emails (every email has an unsubscribe link).
To exercise any of these, simply email us — details below — and we'll respond as quickly as we can, usually within 30 days.
Children
WODDI Institute is designed for women aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please tell us and we will remove it.
Notifications and your phone
If you install our app or allow notifications, your device may receive WODDI announcements and messages. This is always your choice — you can switch notifications off in your phone or browser settings at any time, and the app keeps working.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and tell you about any significant change through the platform. We won't quietly move the goalposts.
